IT Systems Administrator

About the Role

Host Hotel Systems is the largest technology provider for the hospitality sector in Portugal, serving over 2,000 hotel and property clients. We are modernising how we run IT by moving from manual, point-and-click administration toward git, runbooks and automation, while actively working toward ISO 27001 certification.

In this role, you will own our internal IT and Microsoft 365 environment, working under the direction of our CISO and Head of Infrastructure. You will run things day to day and make the routine calls, while priorities and security-sensitive changes are agreed together.

This is a role for someone who wants to own outcomes rather than just close tickets. As the function grows, there is clear room to grow with it.

Responsibilities

Own Microsoft 365 and internal IT:

  • Administer our Microsoft 365 tenant: Exchange Online, Entra ID, licensing and the joiner/mover/leaver lifecycle;
  • Manage company devices with Intune and drive the endpoint rollout;
  • Provide internal IT support and automate the recurring work where it makes sense;
  • Keep documentation and runbooks current for everything you run.

Run internal projects:

  • Plan and deliver internal projects such as office Wi-Fi, networking and equipment, within the scope and budget agreed with the CISO;
  • Help bring our M365 configuration under version control so changes are reviewed and tracked.

Support the wider team:

  • Help the infrastructure team with smaller tasks on client Windows Server environments;
  • After onboarding, join the on-call rotation as first responder with escalation to senior engineers and clear runbooks (compensated per contract terms).

Requirements

  • You have been the go-to person for an organisation's IT, not just one of the people working tickets, for roughly 3 years or more;
  • You have run a Microsoft 365 tenant day to day: joiners and leavers, licensing, mailboxes and access policies in Entra ID, without close supervision;
  • You have enrolled and managed company devices with Intune or a similar tool;
  • You have set up or fixed office networking yourself, such as Wi-Fi, VLANs and basic firewall rules;
  • Windows Server and Active Directory fundamentals;
  • Working PowerShell: you can read, adapt and write simple scripts;
  • The habit of documenting what you do;
  • Portuguese and English, spoken and written;
  • Able to work 4 days a week from our Lisbon office.

  • Scripts you have written yourself to automate real work (we will ask you to walk us through one);
  • Infrastructure as code, git or Ansible, or a strong interest in learning them;
  • Intune Autopilot and conditional access;
  • Azure fundamentals (AZ-900 level) or Microsoft certifications such as MS-102;
  • Exposure to ISO 27001 or security-focused IT work;
  • SQL Server basics or a hospitality and PMS background.
